Connect in the Kitchen | Homemade Chicken Sausage in 4 Simple Steps
Hands down my Cusinart is my most loved small appliance in my kitchen. It was pricey to begin with, but I think it has paid for itself. My dear husband gave me this as a gift about 4 years ago and I don’t think I go a week without using it. Don’t tell Ruby (my kitchen aid), but if I had to choose between her and my Cusinart, then she would have to go. These days I am using Ruby more for her looks, Kitchen’s are a pretty appliance!
Part of our weekly meal plan usually consist of Homemade Spaghetti over Spaghetti Squash at least one night. When I am lazy or out of chicken, I will buy the Chicken Sausage from Trader Joes. But I wanted to be sure and share with you how simple it is to make your own. And you can do it in about 2 minutes!
1. Cut Chicken Breats (or thighs) into chunks, Add to Cusinart
2. Pulse until ground (almost looks like mush)
3. Add Seasonings (optional)
4. Cook or Freeze
Another thing I love is you can make your own Chicken Burgers, Lettuce Wraps or like me Chicken Sausage. Instead of me paying $2.99/lb + for ground chicken breast, I only paid $1.69/lb! Or if you have a recipe that calls for ground turkey or beef, consider using chicken. Bonus, I know what’s in it!
Now did it taste like Trader Joes Chicken Sausage? Yes and No. The flavor was awesome from all the seasonings I added (Fennel, Pepper, Salt, Garlic, Onion), but as we all know white meat is a little on the dyer side. SO you can always add some boneless skinless chicken thighs in to spruce it up. But we enjoyed our dinner very much!
