Reader Venessa Macy’s Shopping Trip: $171.96 worth of clothes for $4.62!

February 21, 2012

This is impressive!  Reader Venessa emailed me her great shopping trip she had a Macy’s during their Presidents day sale.  When you purchased a pair of jeans you received a $10 coupon, she separated her transactions and got some great deals!

Here is her purchase:

Transaction #1

First pair of jeans regularly $29.99 on sale for $14.97
plus and additional 40% off = $8.98
plus and addition 15% off for a purchase price of $7.63 and when you buy any pair of jeans at Macys receive a coupon for $10.00 off of your next purchase
Final Price: $2.37 Money Maker

Transaction #2
a pair of jeans regularly prices $29.99 on sale for $14.97
plus an additional 40% off = 8.98
and a girls shirt regularly prices $12.99 on sale $4.97
plus an additional 40% off =$2.98
Subtotal for this purchase $12.12 after tax
-$10.00 off coupon from the first purchase= $2.12
Repeat…. and repeat again!

In the end I purchased $171.96 worth of girls Yaso brand jeans and Glitter t-shirts in different sizes (including tax) for $4.62 (including tax)!!!!

I shop at Macys a lot and get some great deals but who would have thought you could get such a crazy deal like this at Macys!!!! That’s 97% savings with tax included!!!!

I also got 12 carters sleepers for Kaleah’s (1yr) that would have regularly been $285.64 after tax for $53.84 after tax!

Pretty cool huh!

These are some amazing deals! It may be a little misleading, however, since you actually factored in the $10 coupon from Transaction 1 twice. You didn’t MAKE money off the first AND deduct that same $10 off the second. Should have read that you paid oop $7.63 for first and then $2.12 for second. See what I mean? Nevertheless those are some unbeatable deals without a doubt!! Got to love Presidents Day sales (I think there are better deals than Black Friday!). Thanks for sharing! :)

After the Jean/shirt transaction transaction was done I was still left with a coupon for $10.00 off my next purchase so in the end I spent $14.62 out of pocket but I was left with the $10.00 coupon to use on my next purchase. So my total cost when counting this $10.00 off coupon was $4.62.

Yup, I agree with Leah. GREAT deal but the savings are inflated somewhat. She paid 7.63 in txn1, and 2.12 in txn2.

That was the first thing I noticed too. That said, I’m still high fiving anyone getting 5 pairs of jeans and 3 shirts for under $15. That is amazing!!

I did this last year when they had this deal going on. I was there a total of 12 hours. I manage to get 1, 125.00 worth of cloths for 189.00. I donated over 30 pairs of Girls jeans to a local adoption placement for girls. It was alot of fun, but omgz it was crazy.
