Albertsons Printable Coupon Policy Released | Overage for Coupons & More!

December 16, 2011

It’s a great day to be an Albertsons Shopper!  Albertsons has been one of my favorite places to coupon and even more so now!  As I mentioned a few days ago that the policy was going to change, you can now print the Official Albertsons Coupon Policy here!   I think you will be impressed on how well they explained what you can and cannot do using coupons.

The biggest change. You will now receive OVERAGE for your coupons:

“Coupons that exceed the retail value of an item will have the remaining amount applied to the balance of the transaction. In the event a transaction balance results in a “credit”, additional items WILL be added/suggested to the order to utilize the remaining value of the coupon. We will not provide any “cash back” on coupons; however we will provide full redemption value”

What does this mean?

If you have a $1.00 coupon and your items is $0.50, you will now be able to roll that into other items into your cart. So instead of the coupon being adjusted down you will now have to apply that to the other items in your cart

Regarding Buy One, Get One Free offers:

“Albertsons offers of Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) promotions in their weekly advertisement can be combined with Buy One, Get One Free manufacturer coupons to result in BOTH items being Free. The items in the manufacturer coupon must exactly match our weekly advertisement offers and meet the redemption criteria”

Example:

Scrubbing Bubbles BOGO Free
Use Scrubbing Bubbles BOGO Free Coupon
Final Price: 2 Free

*I have personally never had a problem doing this, but I am so glad they’re addressing it in the new policy! Much appreciated Albertsons! So print your policy friends and head over to their Facebook page and tell them Thank You!

Policy Effective 12/17

These are awesome changes! Question – Does Albertson’s still allow you to use a coupon on the free item when it’s a BOGO? It used to be clearly mentioned in their policy, but I don’t see it any longer.

The store gives you one free and the manufacturer coupon makes the other free.

The store sees you buying the one that you are using the manufacturer coupon on and the manufacturer sees you buy the one you are using the store promo on :-)

Do you know which states this applies to? It says on the policy Intermountain West Region. I’m in CA, so I’m not sure if that includes me…I hope so!

I am fan of Albertson’s on facebook. They posted about the new policy. It says for Albertsons stores in ID, OR, WA, MT, UT, WY, and Elko NV.

These are some good changes, but there was also some negative changes to there policy. The new policy does allow doubling of a “do not double coupon”. My store will double up to a dollar on any coupon over a dollar, the new policy does not allow any doubling of a coupon over a dollar. Bummer.

Where do you live? This policy may not be for your store its only for ID, OR, WA, MT, UT, WY, and Elko NV. None of the Alby’s in WA doubled coupons over a dollar before so no change there for us.

Speaking of doubling….I’m a new couponer and have been just going to Albertsons. My understanding is that I can only present 1 coupon per item UNLESS they publish the doubling/matching coupons that we get in the flyers, right? On a separate note, I can’t seem to do better than a 49% savings (unless I buy stuff off the clearance shelves with a coupon!) I think I need additional training! I just lost one of my jobs and will be in a pinch soon.

Okay…i am having HUGE problems with an Albertson’s store in WA. They will NOT apply overage…manager told me that he wasn’t informed of this new change DIRECTLY from corporate…he wouldn’t even read the store policy i printed out since corporate didn’t send him a notice directly. Help me…what can I do?

Tracie- You need to call corporate. This way they will call and inform their managers of the situation and the change of policy. Let us know what happens! :-)

There have been some updates for the cashiers, and they have copies at the registers:

If your item is 75cents and your coupon is $1.00 you will get 25cents off of something else in your cart, but you have to have another item being purchased… No twice the value will apply to this scenario…

If your item is $1.25 and you have a $1.00 coupon and a doubler, the doubler will still be adjusted down to just 25 cents….

If your item is $1.00 and your coupon is $1.00 no doubler will apply…

If your item is $2.00 and your coupon is $1.00 then a doubler will apply at $1.00…

IN ESSENCE… doulbers will not allow overage, but the original manufacture coupon will.
