WOW! Thanks
Thank you for your clarification on this Amber. It’s usually a 50/50 proposition whether an Albertson’s checker will double these for me or not. I guess I will have to start carrying around their coupon policy with me. Lost out on a few good deals today because one checker refused to take these along with my manufacturer coupons. She told me I could only use one or the other. Then another checker told me sorry, these can’t be doubled:-(
I purchased some of the items that were listed in the The More You Shop, The More You Save Promotion, and one of the $1 CATs that printed was a store coupon. The rest were Manu coupons…what gives?
So I have 2 manufacturer cats for $1 each I got today buying Italian sausage and your saying I can use them to buy pinneapple – instead of a pinneapple coupon? They say in very small print that the retailer was Johnsonville and it also says “not subject to doubling”.
I tried to double one of the manufacturer cats today and was told no, that the coupon had to be for a specific product.
I just picked up 12 more cans of pineapple doing exactly what the video showed, doubling the $1/4 and the $1 cat. Checker doubled them without second thought. It really does suck that not everyone gets the same experience though =/ I was suprised my store still had pineapple left! All together took home 20 cans for free + $2MM using the printable $1/2 this morning!
The evening manager at the Mukilteo Albies refused to double my mfg CAT last time around. She said that she’d received an email from corporate saying it was no longer to be done – she said other stores were not keeping up with the changes in policy. I just gave up and went to another store.
So I did this deal today but I used all MF coupons @.50 /2, doubled them, I did notice the 1$/4 Catalinas, but didn’t use those, using instead, other Catalinas from the TGI promo. I didn’t even try because it states right on the catalina , not subject to doubling. I think we all need to play by the rules, and not push the limits or we won’t be getting to use ANY coupons at all…. It is in trying to “push ” the limits that gives ALL couponers a bad rap…
You are correct, we should all play by the rules. In this case, it might be prudent for you to double check those rules before accusing anyone of misusing their coupons that say “do not double”. It VERY clearly states in Albertson’s coupon policy “Albertson’s DOES allow manufacturer coupons that state they cannot be ‘doubled’ to be used in conjunction with a Twice The Value store coupon.
Using these coupons does not push the limit…it is clearly addressed by Albertson’s and is allowed.
You can use catalinas from other stores at Fred Meyer as long as they are mfg coupons and not store coupons. You can even use the $ off coupons from walgreens as long as they say Mfg coupon on them
Thanks Mary
Here is what the policy says:
Twice the Value store coupons can only be used in combination with a $1.00 or less manufacturer coupon (a printed face value of $1.01 or greater cannot be combined with Twice the Value store coupons).
o Albertsons DOES allow manufacturer coupons that state they cannot be ‘doubled’ to be used in conjunction with a Twice the Value store coupon.
Catalina $X off coupons seem to be the exception. I dont know why and have never gotten a clear reason why. Why cant i use a Fred Meyer $4 OYNP at albertsons or safeway or visa versa. They ARE Manufacturer coupons. BUT all the stores have a consistent policy regarding this. Doubling a $1 OYNP seems to fall under this above exception. It has nothing to do with the “Do Not Double.” It doesnt make sense, yet its the way it is. If you find a store that does it for you, Good for you, enjoy it while you can. My guess is, if enough people push this issue, the “ruling” will come down against doubling it, in writing.
I honestly didn’t even think to do this until my manager pointed out that I could. If they tell me not too then I will gladly follow the rules
As I said above, the assistant manager at the Mukilteo Albies says that it is already in writing (via email) that Albertsons corporate policy is that catalinas cannot be doubled. (So, as SuperBob says, let’s not push this issue but enjoy the doubling while we can.) YMMV – I had no trouble doubling the pineapple CATS at the Mukilteo Albies tonight. Same store but different cashier and different assistant manager.
I’ve never had an issue doubling catalinas at Albies. They are manufacturer coupons, just like all of my other coupons.
Hopefully they don’t change the policy. But they get reimbursed for accepting the catalinas the same way they get reimbursed for the regular mfg q’s.
Shopped for the first time using doubling and coupons at Albertsons. My first transaction was for the cereals and salad dressing, paid $16.25 Second transaction was 105% savings. So all in all I got:
5 boxes cereal
4 bottles salad dressing
6 bottles VO5 shampoo
2 bottles dish soap
1 gallon of milk
And I still have $2 to spend on the next purchase. Albertson’s is not in my immediate neighborhood, so I need to make sure the trip is worthwhile. I was at the store mid-afternoon Sunday and my first choice of the kind of cereal was out as was the cake mix. Wanted to get pineapple but only the very small cans were $1.49, no pineapple on sale — checked with a clerk about this. So I guess I will have to get to Albertsons right when it opens to get all the items I want! Geez.
