Albertsons Coupon Acceptance Policy

March 11, 2011

I had a great talk with Albertsons today and excited to now have a coupon policy!  Apparently this has been available since November!  Where have I been?

Here are a few that stuck out to me

-Coupons that exceed the retail value of an item will be adjusted to provide the maximum value, not exceeding the price of the item

-Albertsons will accept ONE manufacturer coupon and ONE store coupon on the same qualifying item.

-Albertsons DOES Allow Manufacturer Coupons that state they cannot be doubled to be used in conjunction with a Twice the Value store coupon

-In an effort to serve all our customers better than our competitors, and provide a timely checkout , Albertsons request that customers do not exceed three (3) consecutive transactions.

To see the whole policy go here and be sure to print one for your coupon binder!

Anything about a $$ MC with a BOGO MC?

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. So far, Albertson’s is the only place I have never had a problem using coupons. And the checkers are always nice about it (and somewhat surprised at the final price).

Anyone have a problem using more than 1 set of Twice the Value coupons per day? There is one cashier who insists is one per day. Others say it’s 3, other stores say unlimited. I’m going to call the manager tomorrow…sadly I can’t remember the cahier’s name. I didn’t get my 3 transactions done today, the cashier said she’d do two this time.

Thanks for the official policy!

I’m having the same issue with them. After spending over an hour tonight carefully matching coupons up, I was informed that the computer would only allow three transactions using doubler coupons per day. Information that should be on the coupons!

Good to know the details. One of the checkers at my store acts as if the coupon money is coming out of her pocket!! I try to avoid her if at all possible. Thanks for doing all the work for us busy women!

thanks for the policy at Albertsons. I look forward to the double coupons usually every other week here. I have to deal with one checker who acts as if the money is coming out of her pocket! She is not happy for me at all. Needles to say I try hard to stay out of her line. Thanks for doing all the hard work for us busy women!

I had some issues with a cashier and a manager regarding the interpretation of: “Albertsons request that customers do not exceed three (3) consecutive transactions”
I read that as I can go to the back of the line and do another 3 trans, the manager felt otherwise so I contacted corporate and here is what they said:
“It is permissible to go to the back of your line or to another lane and carry out a further three consecutive transactions after your first three.”

If anyone would like a copy of the email I’d be happy to forward it along.

I would LOVE a copy of this email as my store makes me leave the store and come back in for each transaction (they used to let me do 3). Thanks so much! sonjahoyt at yahoo dot com.

I am having issues with the Albertson’s near me. They say that I am only allowed to use 4 doubled or tripled coupons per day. I’m hoping that the coupon policy that you have can help me.
Thanks :)

So I see that it is “Intermountain” does this policy apply also to Albertsons stores in Louisiana. I will be there for 10 days….bringing the “binder” with me….I wanted to read up on their policies before hand….I did see an article that some co bought some stores and kept the name….but it even alerts you on Albertsons.com that certain stores are under a different company.

Hi I am still having a hard time with understanding coupons and doubling them.
I have the albertsons weekly paper and it says there is General Mills cereal for $1.77 and i found coupons online for .50 cents off so can i take 2 of those .50 cent off coupons and get it doubled to where i only get them for .77cents?
I am so lost with how this all works!
PLEASE HELP! :)

Hi Gypsy,

I’m new to this also but I think that albertson’s will double your .50 coupon which will still make it .77. But I don’t know if they’d let you use alike coupons on one item. Not sure so ask for another answer from a pro.

I am a cashier that works at walmart. I don’t know about ablertson’s, but I know at walmart the reason a lot cashiers can be a pain about coupons is because we can get written up about taking the wrong coupons. Managers have started walking around with printouts asking cashiers why did they take such and coupons. So, it’s not that cashiers don’t want anyone to get a good deal it is just that alot of us don’t want to get in trouble.

I just talked with the store manager at Albertson’s in Amarillo, Texas and THEY DO NOT do double coupons, DO NOT honor competitor’s coupons and WILL ONLY honor MANUFACTURER’s coupons.

Help????

I love their coupons, I save so much money using them! Albertons is a great company, but like many nationwide businesses it can have some weak spots. I was surfing the internet and I found this site where people can vent about poor customer service or products they received… it can get really funny. I would recommend you to check it out here.

Hello! I’m fairly new to couponing and have a question. Whoever can assist me will be much appreciated. Is a coupon from the Sunday insert the same as an internet printed manufacture coupon. I had an embarrassing incident at Albertson’s yesterday when they wouldn’t take both. I thought the two were different.
Thanks for any help!

Amber September 27, 2011 at 6:27 pm

They are the same because they are both manufactures coupons. You can only use one manufacturers coupon per item

I am new to couponing and of course I watch Extreme Couponing (which has started me trying this out slowly). Okay so if they take one manufactors coupon per item and i have 5 like coupons I can use all 5 coupons for the same 5 items in one transaction right?

Danielle October 29, 2011 at 5:56 pm

What are you talking about when you refer to “three consecutive transactions”. I am new to this and trying to learn the ropes. Thank you for your help.

I’m not new to couponing and I have to tell you it is becoming more and more difficult to use coupons in any store here in California. It seems as if these stores change there policies weekly. One minute they allow you to use coupons on B1G1 free and the next you can only use the 1 coupon for both items. I acutally had a manager today tell me at Albertsons that the coupon I had exceeded the item amount and she could not take it becuase they do not allow for overages. I told her I wasn’t looking for an overage all she needed to do was reduce the coupon amount to match the price of the item. She refused. REALLY!!!! you Natzi Coupon Cashier!!! Not only do I have to spend hours and hours putting my sales, coupons, cutting them etc.. I have to do your job too??? Rounding down the amount is in there coupon policy. She really pissed me off. I told her I don’t care who she gets on the phone with, but it would benefit her to make a call. In the end, she took the coupons rounded them down to match the price of the item and I still got them FREEEEE!!!! which was my goal. I am just amazed at the attitudes of some of these stores and cashiers. Just take the coupon shut up and let us go on our way. Some of us work 40 to 50 hours a week which doesn’t include the enormous amount of time it takes to coupon. I refuse to put up with anyone’s behavior when it comes to my hard work. Shove the policy in there face and let nature take its course. That’s all I have to say about cashiers and managers. So to all of you who may experience this type of behavior my advise is, DONT LET THEM!!! you work too hard to save your family money every time you walk into a store. It should be a good experience not a degrading one… :-)
